Just so there are no surprises, as of last week's episode (#144, January 21 2009), Naruto Shippuuden has entered a new filler: the Rokubi Arc. If I remember numbers correctly (roku), this will be about the six-tails jinchuuriki, so I would expect something akin to the three-tails arc. Enjoy! Or not...

Since it's almost Halloween, I thought it would be best to post something more pertinent to the season!
Romaji: Kowai desu. (koh-WHY dess)
Japanese: 怖いです。 OR 恐いです。 (こわいです。)
Meaning: It's/that's/he's/she's scary! OR I'm scared! (depending on the situation)
Please don't get this phrase confused with "Kawaii/可愛い", which means "cute." I suppose one can easily make fun of people this way...calling them scary instead of cute in Japanese. Anyway, happy learning & have a happy Halloween next week! =) |

TeamFourStar, the folks who brought us the wonderful DBZ Abridged Series, will be hitting up their first official convention this October in Michigan. That's right, they'll be at Youmacon 2009! Their original Youtube account was removed by Youtube for copyright infringement (most likely) though they displayed a disclaimer in each episode. I won't link to any of the numerous "backups" on youtube, but you can easily find them by searching for either TeamFourStar or DBZ abridged. They are worth checking out! Anyway, watch their , it will at least give you a taste of their skills. |

Straight from Japan, we bring you PokeTreats! During my extravagant exploration of an exogenous land, I picked up some treats along the way. Were they nothing more than Pokemonized versions of American snacks, or were they something the American snack companies could only dream of producing??? Let's find out!

So, after having watched "Bleach" for a little while, I've heard this phrase over & over again, & I'm sure many of you have as well. The members of the 13 Protection Squads of the Court of Pure Souls (Seireitei) say this to their captains & other superiors A LOT!
Romaji: Moushiwake arimasen (MOE-shee-wah-kay-ah-REE-mah-SEN)
Japanese: 申し訳ありません (もうしわけありません)
Meaning: I'm really sorry! (said in a VERY polite manner)
This is more polite than saying "gomen nasai" or "sumimasen". I'm not quite sure, but it might fall under the category of "honorifics" (keigo/敬語), which is an extremely polite way of speaking as well as humbling yourself. I'll explain more about honorifics another time...it can get complicated if you don't understand the basic grammatical concepts first. Please send me a message if you wish to ask a question about honorifics or whatever else may be on your mind! |
